SATURN: GINEBRA RAVENTÓS & DJ ISA·BEL

«Saturn» is a collaborative performance between the poet and sound artist Ginebra Raventós and the dj/producer Isa·bel. With the support of EMARX in the development of sound-reactive visual patches and quadraphony.

Created as from the sound poem «Saturn darrere nostre: el glaç, el got, el buit, l’acte verge» edited on vinyl record on March, 2021. The performance uses the language and the phonetics of Catalan and English as musicalization tools. Inside a quadraphonic stage with the projection of sound-reactive image patterns, that provide an immersive experience like a vivid musical poem.

«Saturn» elapses through the reproduction of the vinyl/poem about which the poet recites, creates loops and highlights parts with a microphone, pedal sand effects. While the DJ manipulates the turntables and cdjs, introducing loops, scratching effects and mashup with electronic music. The versatile act takes 45/60 minutes and is a new creation proposal to rethink the boundaries of poetry, sound and music, blurring the line between the discourse and live music presentation.

Winner of Injuve Creation Grant 2019 for the production of the sound book. The poem refers to a collective and anonymous voices that blear everything that orbits around the idea of Saturn, the return to oral histories and the origin myth.

The live act has been created in residency at Stansa Cultural and has been played in Barcelona, Spain at Saturnalia Book Shop (March 28th), Antic Teatre (April 17th) and Art Beats (April 18th) during 2021.

Ginebra Raventós is a poet and sound artist, his field of research crosses psychoacoustics, voice, words and the collective unconscious through sound, space and light in movement. Her work has been presented in Barcelona (SONAR+D, Hangar, Convent Sant Agustí), Madrid (La casa encendida), Bilbao (Histerikoa lab), Berlin (Gh, RaumUmDichtung festival), Copenhagen (Literature Festival, KUA university) and others.

Isa·bel: DJ, electronic music producer, cultural agent and label manager. Has published two Eps «New Room» (2019), «The Beat Generation» (2016) and «Dro» remix (Set Theory, 2018). Has been playing at Primavera Sound, Brunch in the city, Mariusonica. Touring Europe and Latin America, she is part of the program We are Equals (Mutek/British Counsil) Femnøise and Female Pressure».
